iPhone 4 vs Canon 7D (video)

That’s the title of the video you are about to watch. When I read it, I wondered how the iPhone 4 could possibly measure up to the Canon 7D, but as it turns out, the iPhone 4′s camera isn’t that far behind.

The author of this video has provided more details on his website in the post The iPhone 4 as a Filmmaking Tool

Video-wise, I prefer the Canon 7D, there is no doubt about that. It captures colors better with much …

Editing Playlists with iOS4

There are many new features in iOS4, even the new name is one. I call it so, because it really saves characters on Twitter. One feature that I haven’t read about yet is that you can edit your playlist from the iPhone/iPod. You can create them, add and remove songs to them, clear them and delete them. Editing playlists in iOS4 is just as good as doing it in iTunes. It’s still lacking smart playlists, but I think we will survive.

Movie Review: True Legend (2010)

Yuen Woo-Ping’s True Legend is a psychological martial arts drama from Hong Kong starring Vincent Zhao with a guest appearance of Michelle Yeoh.

This is the story of Su Qi-Er, better known as Beggar Su, who is a legendary figure in the martial arts world. He is also known as the master of drunken boxing. This character has appeared in numerous movies such as Drunken Master (1978) in which he was the master of Jackie Chan.

World Cup 2010 Theme Song

Update: It seems that I was mistaken when I first wrote this post. The official song is actually Waka Waka by Shakira. The official music video is the second one at the bottom of this article.

The official theme song of the World Cup 2010 is Wavin’ Flag by Somalian singer K’naan. Wavin’ Flag is a great song that is strongly in tune with the spirit of the World Cup through joyful melody and lyrics.

Do you know how stupid Microsoft is?

Did you answer “Yes, I do”? If you did, then you really don’t.

Microsoft isn’t all bad. The Xbox is pretty good, but that’s it. Microsoft Office is useful, but let’s not confuse that with being good, because pretty much every single alternative is better. My vote goes to Google Docs and Apple iWork. I like easy answers. Actually, screw Apple too; I’m a fan of the cloud and I hate software, but let’s stay on the topic of “Microsoft sucks”. Enough has been written about it you might think, but apparently not since they still make stupid ass mistakes like this one.

Movie Review: Ip Man 2 (2010)

“I challenge you”

Ip Man is best known as the first master to teach Wing Chun. He and his students have spread Wing Chun worldwide. One of them was Bruce Lee. The first movie took place in the late 1930s when Japan invaded China. Because of the war, Ip Man lost everything and he defended the Chinese the best way he could. At the end of the movie, he moves to Hong Kong with his family.

Movie Review: Iron Man 2 (2010)

Possible spoilers in this review. You’ve been warned.

In the first movie, we witnessed Tony Stark become Iron Man after being captured. At the end of the movie, he reveals to the world who he really is and Nick Fury wants to talk to him about the Avengers Initiative.

Iron Man 2 essentially picks up where the last movie left off. Peace reigns around the world. However, we know how the world works. When you’re good at something, someone is always out there to …

Many things can happen in public places in Montreal

Montreal is well known for its cultural diversity. The city holds a major place in the worldwide tech industry. It is the host of the Just For Laughs festival and the Jazz festival. It is known as the city where the internationally popular BIXI originated. It has been appointed a UNESCO City of Design. It is the home of the Cirque du Soleil and birthplace of Celine Dion. Okay… She wasn’t born in Montreal, not even on the island, but Charlemagne is only about 25 kilometers away.

What Montreal isn’t …

Movie Review: Little Big Soldier (2010)

Little Big Soldier is a historical war movie with Jackie Chan. It's a drama/comedy fresh out of Hong Kong. I am not a big fan of war movies. I find that they often depict the horrors of war way more than the cause of them when they should be suggesting solutions. Little Big Soldier offers both; the cause and the solution in a wonderful joyous way.

The movie tells the story of a soldier who captures an enemy general to bring him back to his land with hopes of being released from service. Both of them are the …

The basic principle of contracts

I hate contracts. I am not indifferent, I do not not like them, I completely hate them. Contract is one word to say "there is lack of trust and reliability".

Take cell phone companies that get customers to sign contracts. I would believe that if their service is good, customers would stay with them even without a contract. By making people sign a contract, they are basically saying "We offer you our service, but we aren't sure that it won't suck, so we want you to sign to make sure you stay with us (we really mean stick with us) even when we …

A company’s mission statement

This morning, I woke up wondering that my mission is. I am a freelance web designer. I create websites. I make them look good, I make feel good and I make them usable. I also take away technical headaches by dealing with technical tasks such as registering domain names, setting up hosting, email addresses, Facebook pages and Twitter accounts, then I show people how to use it. Almost anything web-related, I do. I also answer questions and make suggestions when asked. Sometimes, I also help with things that have nothing to do with the web. So, what is my mission?

Forever, …

Want vs. Need

It is rather difficult to find a dumb phone these days.

She won, Rebekka won

It’s 2010, three years after I’ve created Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir’s website. When I go the job interviews or meet potential clients, I still mention this website as the best I’ve done. Quite honestly, take the photos out and it looks terrible. I sure know, since I’ve done it.

What makes it the best I’ve done is her photo and the context in which I did it. I was out to gain experience on the web. My knowledge was primitive. The only things I had on my side was my will to move forward and Rebekka, otherwise she’d never let me do it.

Anyway, …

Lechat Clothing’s website

Lechat Clothing’s website features collections of a young talented fashion designer, Flavie Lechat, from Montreal, Canada. You can follow her on Twitter and on Facebook.

I was very happy to be able to work on her website. It presented new challenges for me, both in the way it looks and in the way it works. My process for this project was also unusual.

Generally, in my design process, the navigation is the first thing I start working on. It’s basically the structure of the website. It’s the tool that makes sure that visitors …
