Update 2010/01/21: What Has Twitter Done For Me?

Update 2010/07/16: Résultats du sondage sur les comportements des utilisateurs sur Twitter – Partie principales habitudes It’s only in French but you can translate it.

I am writing this for friends as well as all the people who have asked me why I use Twitter and why they should or shouldn’t.

Three years ago, Twitter was born. The website asked people “What are you doing?” The audience at the time were mostly tech-savvy people who just used the service to communicate.

Je n’existe plus

In English, all the following means that I’m gone. I just felt like writing it all in French. Besides, if I’m not online on Facebook or other IM service, it means I don’t exist. It’s as simple as that.

Posting to Posterous

I have been writing on Posterous.

Permanently Connected

In the past, having my computer always turned on kept me connected to the internet all the time. That means it kept me connected to IM clients like AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo and even Facebook. A problem rises when I am not in front of my computer.

Robin Hood on BBC One

I have been a fan of Robin Hood, the show on BBC One since it premiered in 2006. Since then, two seasons have aired and the third season has started yesterday.

Earth Hour is ridiculous

Earth Hour is what it’s defined as on Wikipedia. It’s whatever you want it to be and it’s just ridiculous.

Custom Facebook

Many people, myself included, don’t like the new face of Facebook. Many have created groups that give people instructions on how to personalize your Facebook page. They are all scams. There is no way to change the appearance of Facebook the way MySpace allows it. However, there is one way you can do it, but it will only be on one browser only on your own computer.

This is not for everyone, because it doesn’t take only a few clicks to get it done. You need Safari with GreaseKit or Firefox with …

Rebekka’s dolls

Rebekka has recently added a new category to her website: dolls. If you’ve seen her photos before, you might recognize that she has mimicked some of her photos from the past with a doll. Other than that, what I see in other photos are disturbing images of solitude, except for a few shots like the one with the two women and the one in this post. Go check out Rebekka’s dolls. I don’t know how you will react, but you will definitely react.

Renaming several files at once on a Mac

Mac has so many things built-in, like the ability to rename a bunch of files at once using Automator.

Design Bleu

I woke up this morning with the desire to make a new design for my website and so I did. I drew a sketch on my whiteboard. That only took 20 seconds. Then, I went to the bathroom. When I came back I started to turn the sketch into a visually elegant design. I quickly wrote the code and worked on the few images that are on the website.

The result is very good. It’s clean, elegant, classy, unified, tense, energetic, and …

Mac Tip: creating a file list of a folder

Or, you can also open your printer and drag the directory on the printer icon.

Why are people looking down on the web when compared to television?

I blame YouTube and all the crap people put there. I also have a lot of crap there too. YouTube and many other places are big buckets of smelly crap. Some of that crap is very cool, but it’s crap nonetheless.

Freeze @ Complexe Desjardins

Yesterday evening, there was what is today globally known as a “freeze” at Complexe Desjardins in Montreal. Over 1000 people were present and they all stopped moving for about 4 or 5 minutes. In that small time span, I treated everyone like those English soldiers that aren’t supposed to move. In any other context, I would be weird, but everybody there was pretty weird just for being there and doing that.

Taken (2008)
