Rearranging longzero.com

The problem with the design in the first image on the right is that it focuses on my work and only that. It provides no information about who I am or what I do. I wanted to change that without creating an entire new design, because this design is quite effective in showcasing my web design work and expressing what I am about: someone who goes straight to the point, elegantly.

Furthermore, the Entertainment portion was taking way too much real estate and that had to change because it isn’t a big part of what I do, although I do it.

Let’s start with the change in layout. The less there is, the more importance whatever is left has. Leaving black letters on a white background would have been bland. That explains the background and since this website is about me, my portrait is appropriate. However, that isn’t where the focus should be, hence the photo being out of focus. The overall layout is mostly logical, meaning that starting to read the content from the top left corner makes sense.

In the past few months, I have started using the font Georgia a lot. It has grown on me. Almost every font used on the web are sans-serif, like the font on Facebook that so many people in the world see all the time. Choosing a serif font is a very simple way to stand apart. Georgia is a clean font that has character and class that was specifically created for screens.

This new rearrangement focuses a little bit more on who I am, while it still shows my work effectively, although less dominant. I should also point out that this website still remains a single page that contains everything I want to show.
